HOW DOES IT WORK?
Thermage® stimulates collagen production through the use of radiofrequency energy. Collagen is a protein essential to maintaining skin strength and elasticity. When production decreases later in life, the lack of collagen makes it more difficult for the skin to maintain its tone. This leads to sagging skin and increased wrinkles. However, the technology of Thermage® is effective in defining your facial features, smoothing your skin, and toning dimples and wrinkles that are present on your face and body. By stimulating collagen production, Thermage® helps your skin regain its more youthful tone while keeping it smooth.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A handheld device will be placed over the determined treatment sites on your body. You will first receive a cooling feeling; this is designed to protect the upper layers of your epidermis and make you more comfortable throughout the procedure. Next, the tip of the device will begin to radiate the radiofrequency energy into the treatment site. At this point, the energy is heating up the layers of your skin and stimulating the production of collagen within the deeper layers. Once the treatment is concluded, you will feel a cooling sensation again.
Treatment typically takes anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the treatment site and the size of the area. You can expect to bounce back quickly after your procedure. There is no downtime, and patients often return to work the same day. You may experience some redness, but this is temporary.
YOUR RESULTS
You will notice a difference in your appearance soon after your treatment. However, results will continue to develop following your procedure as your body continues to produce more collagen.
