Dr. Charles Galanis

Double Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Charles Galanis, M.D., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who is double board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Charles Galanis, a native of Milwaukee, completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin, where he served as class president and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, a distinction only granted to the top 15 percent of medical school graduates.

Upon completing medical school, Dr. Charles Galanis completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital – denoted the number one hospital in the nation by US News and World Report for a record 21 years in a row. While a surgical resident, he was awarded a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct two years of clinical research at New York City’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center – the number-one-ranked cancer center in the U.S.

While at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Galanis was awarded the Resident Teacher of the Year award as Chief Resident. After completing his general surgery training, he pursued his interests and entered UCLA’s highly competitive plastic and reconstructive surgery program. With diverse training throughout the Los Angeles area, including private cosmetic practices in Beverly Hills, high-volume county hospitals, and the US News and World Report number-three-ranked UCLA Medical Center – considered one of the best programs in the nation – Dr. Galanis honed his expertise in plastic surgery.

Dr. Charles Galanis remained at UCLA for an additional year as Microsurgery Fellow and Clinical Instructor, performing complex reconstruction with a high focus on breast, head, and neck surgery. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has had his research presented at medical conferences.

In 2019, Dr. Charles Galanis completed his Hi-Def Liposuction training with Alfredo Hoyos MD in Colombia as part of the Total Definer High Definition Liposuction Training program.

Dr. Charles Galanis recognizes that deciding to undergo plastic surgery and select a plastic surgeon can be frightening and overwhelming. He considers it a privilege to assist patients in either restoring form or helping them achieve a particular look they desire.

His training background in Los Angeles – considered by many to be an epicenter of plastic surgery – has afforded him the skill set to best assist his patients. Dr. Galanis believes in establishing a trusting and honest relationship with his patients before making decisions. He strives to fully understand his patient’s goals, design and clearly explain a custom-tailored plan, and ultimately deliver beautiful results.

Although fully trained in all areas of plastic surgery, Dr. Galanis’ main areas of interest are non-invasive skin treatments, cosmetic surgery of the breast and body, and reconstructive surgery for breast and skin cancer.
