What is the Vampire facelift

The Vampire Facelift, also known as the Vampire Facial, refers to anti-aging treatments that use the patient’s own blood to rejuvenate and heal damaged skin.

A small amount of blood is taken from the patient, and the stem cells, growth factors, and platelets in the blood are isolated. When combined with microneedling, this platelet rich plasma (PRP) stimulates the production of collagen and elastin deep within the skin to create a naturally youthful appearance.

Patients who choose the Vampire Facial experience the following:

  • Fewer fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scar reduction
  • Even skin tone
  • Smaller pores
  • Improved skin texture

TREATMENT PROCESS

Each mirconeedling/PRP treatment is customized for the patient based on their goals and skin type. A typical treatment begins with the application of a numbing cream that will take 10 to 20 minutes to take effect. During this time, the patient’s blood is drawn and the platelet rich plasma is isolated in a centrifuge.

Charles Galanis, M.D., applies the microneedling device that makes tiny holes in the skin. The PRP can then easily reach the deep layers of the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin. Patients can see the effects of the procedure immediately, and the final results will continue to improve within the next several days. For the most optimal results, the doctor recommends at least 3 treatment sessions, with 4 weeks between each treatment.

VAMPIRE FACIAL VS. AT-HOME TREATMENTS

Commercially available dermarollers are marketed to provide results similar to microneedling, but they do not. Generally, the at-home microneedling devices only reach a depth of 0.5mm or less, while the medical-grade device penetrates up to 2.5mm and allows for a much more successful treatment. Patients have the very important advantage of having a double board-certified, experienced doctor present to adjust the treatment and continually evaluate how your skin is responding as the procedure takes place. After microneedling, your skin will very readily absorb whatever it is exposed to. Insufficient cleaning of the device or your skin prior to treatment can lead to infection and adverse reaction, so doctor supervision is also highly recommended.
