Who Is A Candidate For
BBL Surgery?
- A healthy patient displeased with the size and/or shape of their buttocks
- A healthy patient with a fair amount of body fat
TECHNIQUE
The surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Small drains are frequently placed and are usually removed the day after surgery. Depending on the patient’s features, a variety of approaches and techniques are available to the surgeon.
Recovery
- Outpatient surgery, but patients should be watched overnight by a caregiver; arrangements for overnight stays at a specialized facility are often made.
- Results are immediate but expect bruising and swelling to happen for 1 to 2 weeks.
- Pain will vary. Oral pain medicine may be needed for 5 to 7 days.
- Drains will be placed and removed the day after surgery.
- Sutures will be removed at 5 to 7 days and at 10-to 14 days for others.
- There are no restrictions on daily activity; patients are encouraged to walk. Patients may shower 2 days after surgery. No lifting more than 10 pounds for 2 weeks and patient may drive when narcotic pain medication is necessary. No strenuous activity or heavy lifting for f6 weeks.
- Expect to take 2 weeks off of work depending on job demands.
- You will be seen in the office the day after surgery, then following surgery at 1 week, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and after as needed.
